Postdoc C. K. Pandiyarajan Receives NC State Professional Development Award

Dr. C. K. Pandiyarajan (“Pandi”), a research scholar in Dr. Genzer’s group, has been awarded the NC State Professional Development Award for Postdocs. Established in 2013, the Award is designed to assist postdoctoral scholars pursuing professional development or training opportunities and to help them reach their professional and/or career goals.

Pandi’s goal is a career in academics. To prepare himself, he’s attended professional development courses on teaching, writing research grants, leadership skills and time management, and he’s volunteered to mentor several CBE undergrads and grads. He used the monetary portion of the Award to purchase equipment two of his undergraduate mentees, Hailey Russell and Austin Champine, needed for their research work.

According to Dr. Genzer, “This is truly a great accomplishment. I should stress that Pandi has done an outstanding job mentoring UG [sic] as well as graduate students in my group. I am very fortunate to work with such a talented and dedicated researcher who spends lots of time mentoring and teaching younger researchers/students the beauty and secrets of scientific research.”

Pandi completed his Ph.D. in Polymer Science at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität in Freiburg, Germany. He earned his M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Chemistry at the Loyola College in Chennai, India.

Congratulations Dr. Pandiyarajan for your Award and commitment to students!
