CBE is #20 in the World

The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), also known as the Shanghai Ranking, is an annual publication of world university rankings. According to the Wikipedia entry, “The league table was originally compiled and issued by Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2003, making it the first global university ranking with multifarious indicators… ARWU is regarded as one of the three most influential and widely observed university rankings…”

In the chemical engineering category for 2019 CBE is ranked #20 in the world and #10 in the U.S. Five hundred institutions are included in the chemical engineering category.

The ranking score is the weighted sum of scores in five different categories: PUB, the number of papers authored in a subject during the period of 2013-2017; TOP, the number of papers published in “Top Journals” (as defined by ARWU) during the period of 2013-2017; CNCI, the ratio of citation of papers published by an institution in an academic subject during the period of 2013-2017 to the average citations of papers in the same category, of the same year and same type; IC, the number of publications with co-authors from at least two different countries; and AWARD, the total number of the staff in a department winning a significant award  (as defined by ARWU) since 1981. Bibliometric data are collected from Web of Science and InCites.

Congratulations to all in the CBE community who contributed to this outstanding accomplishment!
