Dr. Carol Hall is the Worley H. Clark, Jr. Distinguished University Professor in Engineering
Chancellor Randy Woodson has appointed Dr. Carol K. Hall as the Worley H. Clark, Jr. Distinguished University Professor in Engineering.
Distinguished university professors “must be a recognized national or international leader in his or her field, and be a highly productive scholar who has demonstrated a high level of productivity… and must, in addition, have improved the quality of NC State and served its mission through service and involvement in the campus community.”
Professor Hall was one of the first women in the United States to be appointed to a chemical engineering faculty. She is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and serves as the Home Secretary of the Academy.
She is a Fellow of the AIChE, the American Physical Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the world’s largest scientific society. Only small percentages of engineers and scientists are elected as Fellows of a technical society.
Prof. Hall’s many honors include the North Carolina State University R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Award for Excellence in Teaching, Research and Extension, the Founders Award and the 2020 Margaret H. Rousseau Pioneer Award for Lifetime Achievement by a Woman Chemical Engineer, both from the AIChE, and the Foundations of Molecular Modeling and Simulation (FOMMS) Medal to honor “profound and lasting contribution by one or more individuals to the development of computational methods and their application to the field of molecular-based modeling and simulation.” In 2008, she was listed in “One Hundred Engineers of the Modern Era” for significant contributions to the profession and society, as part of the AIChE Centennial Celebration.

Congratulations to Professor Carol Hall for this well-deserved recognition of your distinguished career as a member of the NC State academic community!
