Marius Rutkevičius graduated from the University of Warwick, UK in Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry in 2010 and went to pursuit his PhD in Physical Chemistry at the University of Hull, funded by EPSRC and Unilever. He developed porous and composite materials by templating hydrogels both in Hull and during industrial internship at Unilever R&D Vlaardingen, NL. In addition, he synthesized biodegradable lignin nanoparticles, which sparked startup company establishment by his collaborators prof. Orlin Velev and Alexander Richter at NCSU.
This connection with NCSU inspired him to move over to USA in 2015 for his Postdoc. In the first 1.5 years he worked with prof. Orlin Velev (with Unilever support) and now he as a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in prof. Khan‘s group.
