Mentoring Program
Information for alumni.
Program Goals
Support students as they explore careers in chemical engineering, find their professional footing, and transition into responsible and engaged engineers who are ready to make a difference.
Why Participate?
By engaging in our program you’ll develop personally through reflection on your career path, leadership style, and values. You’ll also have the opportunity to give back by sharing your knowledge, skills, and experiences with current students.
“Mentoring has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. As an NC State Chemical Engineering alum, I’ve seen firsthand how guidance and support can shape someone’s future–but what’s often overlooked is how much the mentor gains in return. The strength of the wolf is in the pack, and mentoring embodies that spirit–it’s about lifting each other up, sharing knowledge, and growing together. It’s not just a responsibility; it’s a way of living.”
– Ana P. Davis (B.S. ’91)
Program Commitment
We ask all alumni mentors to commit to 1 hour/month for one academic year (September-May). This time should be used for one-on-one meetings with student mentees, either in person or via Zoom/video call.
Mentor Matching Process
Using application responses, we match current CBE undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. students with CBE alumni mentors based on their educational backgrounds, career experiences, future goals, and areas of interest within chemical engineering.
