Chemistry and Entrepreneurship: A Formula for Success
Biography
Quint Barefoot, a Greensboro, NC native, holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University (1985) and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business (1996). Quint’s career is marked by leading successful entrepreneurial ventures from inception to their integration into publicly traded companies. After engineering school, Quint joined the family-owned Four Seasons Environmental, Inc., growing its annual revenue from under $1M to $42M and its workforce to over 280 employees. Following the sale to Great Lakes Chemical Corporation, he continued as President, expanding the firm to 16 offices with over 500 employees and over $100M in revenue. Quint co-founded Monosep, LLC in 2001, providing innovative water treatment systems to the energy sector. Monosep’s proprietary systems operated in 23 countries when it was sold to Siemens AG. He later founded Zappa-Tec, LLC, focusing on super absorbent polymer compounds, receiving nine patents for medical waste treatment and negative wound therapy devices before selling the company to Chase Corporation in 2018. Currently, Quint is the CEO of Info-Gel, LLC, producing thixotropic gels for the fiber optic industry with plants in NC, Ireland, and India. He has been honored with the NC State Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Distinguished Alumnus Award (2019) and the Distinguished Engineering Alumnus Award (2022). Quint and his wife, Robin, reside in Greensboro, NC, and have three adult children.
