CBE Centennial Seminar Series: Jorge Pikunic (VPI Power)

Biography

Jorge Pikunic is the Chief Executive Officer of VPI, a leading power company in Europe, solving challenges in the energy transition. Previously, Jorge was Chief Executive at Xynteo, a purpose-driven advisory firm that helps the world’s largest organisations uncover planet-positive ways to grow. Before that, he held several leadership roles at Centrica, one of the largest energy companies in the UK, most latterly the Managing Director of Centrica Business Solutions, which focused on developing a decentralized, flexible, and low-carbon energy system. Jorge has also worked at McKinsey & Company, Procter & Gamble, and PDVSA, Venezuela’s national oil company. Jorge has taken leadership roles in the wider energy transition. He is a Board Director of the Faraday Institution, an independent institute for electrochemical energy storage research, skill development, and early-stage commercialisation. He was also on the Advisory Board of the UK government’s Energy Digitalisation Taskforce, which is focused on modernising the energy system to help reach net zero.  Born in Venezuela, Jorge holds an MSc and PhD in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University and was a Research Fellow at the University of Oxford.
