The CBE Schoenborn Research Symposium & Exhibition
October 17 @ 4:30 pm - 8:00 pm
The CBE Schoenborn Research Symposium & Exhibition is a showcase for the talent and accomplishments of our graduate students, and is a prime indicator of the overall excellence of our graduate program. The two-day symposium features oral presentations by Ph.D. candidates and power presentations by mid-level and undergraduate students. Representatives from industry, government, and academia attend the symposium.
The symposium is named in honor of Dr. Edward M. Schoenborn Jr., a key leader in transforming the character of our department. In 1945, he joined the department as its head. Early in its headship, he oversaw two major educational milestones: in 1948 the undergraduate program was accredited for the first time, and in 1949 the Ph.D. program was established. The CBE Schoenborn Research Symposium and Exhibition is an on-going tribute to his longstanding service to our department.
On Thursday, October 17th, participants will attend Poster Session I (for undergraduate and MS student researchers, and 2nd and 3rd year PhD students) from 4:30 – 6:00 PM, and if you have previously RSVP’d, there will be a welcome dinner from 6 – 8 PM.
