Tahira is from Pakistan and has received her PhD in Physical Chemistry from Quaid-i- Azam
University, Islamabad (Pakistan) in 2012. Her PhD dissertation on ‘polymer silica hybrid
nanofibers and xerogels’ is co advised by Dr. Sakhawat Shah and Dr. Saad Khan. After
graduation, she started working with Federal Directorate of Education as an assistant professor
Chemistry. In 2016, she joined Khan Group as a postdoctoral researcher to work on a Bill &
Melinda Gates Foundation funded project. Presently she is working in collaboration with Forest
Biomaterals and Plant Pathology & Entomology departments to develop nutrient rich
biodegradable matrices for crop protection in Sub Saharan Africa. Her other research interests
are green chemistry, organic-inorganic nanocomposites, electrospun nanofibers and gels.
