Bio

Frye received his B.S. in chemical engineering from NC State in 2012, after which he worked for ExxonMobil for almost 10 years. He returned to NC State to complete a Ph.D. in chemical engineering focusing on chemical looping catalysis and sustainable chemical production. He is joining the faculty as an Assistant Teaching Professor with a focus on bringing industry perspectives into the classroom including process safety, design principles and process troubleshooting.

Area(s) of Expertise

In industry, Frye primarily held process engineering roles with expertise in crude oil distillation and energy efficiency. His Ph.D. research has focused on developing eco-friendly chemical reactions and processing schemes to boost production yields and reduce the carbon footprint of industrial manufacturing.
